The Anti-Bucket List

A wicker basket filled with flowers, magazines, and sunshades.

As I step into my new chapter of life, I’ve been reflecting on what truly matters. Here at Total U Living, we’re all about flipping the script, which got me thinking:

What if, instead of a traditional bucket list, we embraced The Anti-Bucket List

Let me tell you—it’s been a breath of fresh air!

What Is an Anti-Bucket List?

We all know bucket lists—the “must-dos” and “once-in-a-lifetime” adventures we’re told will lead to fulfillment. But at this point in my life, I’ve realized that many of those items feel more like someone else’s vision of happiness than my own.

The Anti-Bucket List is about letting go of the things that no longer serve us and making space for what truly brings us joy and peace. It’s not about giving up—it’s about intentionally choosing what fits who we are now

My Anti-Bucket List

Here are a few things I’ve happily crossed off my personal anti-bucket list—and trust me, the freedom feels amazing!

1. Forget the Extrovert Act

For years, I felt I had to “work the room” and be the life of the party. Now, I embrace my love for quiet moments, small gatherings, and meaningful connections. Big crowds? Not for me—and that’s perfectly okay.

2. Find Your Self-Care Style

Turns out, I’m not a lounge-on-the-beach-all-day kind of person. While I enjoy the occasional sunset stroll, I feel most alive exploring hiking trails or discovering local culture.

3. Ditch the Fashion Trends

Instead of chasing every new trend, I’ve curated a wardrobe that feels like me, a little bit timeless and a little bit funky. A sprinkle of current style? Sure! But the “treadmill” of constant updates? No thanks.

4. Redefine the Workout Week

Fitness used to mean constant workouts, but now I prioritize functional exercise and movement. I enjoy rest days that recharge me. Listening to my body has made all the difference.

5. No More “IT” Bag

I’ve let go of chasing the “IT” bag trend, choosing instead to shop local or thrift for cute,
functional bags that fit my style—plus, it’s so much fun to style them with different
outfits!

Why an Anti-Bucket List Matters

The Anti-Bucket List isn’t about limitations; it’s about living life on your terms. By saying “no” to what doesn’t align with who we are, we’re free to say “yes” to what truly matters. Make your next chapter about feeling aligned, peaceful, and fully ourselves.

Because living purposefully means embracing what feels right for you
